Pria kelahiran Lontar, 8 November 1963 merupakan putra bungsu enam bersaudara dari pasangan Bahuri-Ayahanda dan Tamah-Ibunda tersebut memiliki karir yang cukup gemilang di Kepolisian Republik Indonesia.
Dalam kesempatan silaturahmi ketua umum IMO-Indonesia Yakub Ismail di Mabes Polri, Kamis 28/11/19 pekan kemarin, Komjen Pol. Firli Bahuri sempat bercerita sedikit saat ditanya pencapaiannya saat ini, Alhamdulilah Ucapnya….Insya Allah semoga selalu diberikan petunjuk dan lindungan Nya. Agar amanah ini dapat dijalankan dengan sebaik-baiknya
Sebagaimana diketahui bahwa Komjen Pol. Firli Bahuri memulai karirnya sejak memasuki sekolah bintara polri pada tahun 1984 ( seba milsuk II dodiklat 006 betung polda sumbagsel ) setelah 3 kali gagal mengikuti Akabri di 82,83 dan 84. Selanjutnya setelah lulus bintara polri bertugas di polres cibabat polda jabar dan kemudian pada tahun 1987 mengikuti pendidikan militer Akademi Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Indonesia (AKABRI), itupun setelah ia sempat gagal seleksi AKABRI di magelang pada tahun 1985 dan 1987.
Setelah berhasil menuntaskan studinya di AKABRI pada tahun 1990, ia melanjutkan pendidikannya di Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian (STIK-PTIK) pada tahun 1997 serta program pasca sarjana Kajian ilmu kepolisian Universitas Indonesia dan lulus pada tahun 2000.
Sekolah Staf dan Pemimpin Polri (Sespim) berhasil ia selesaikan pada 2004, dan bertugas di Polda Metro jaya.
Selama bertugas, dirinya selalu menunjukkan dedikasi yang tinggi untuk negara yang dicintainya. Ia juga tak berhenti menorehkan sejumlah prestasi lewat perjuangan kerasnya. Melihat prestasinya yang memukau, deretan kepercayaan pun dilimpahkan kepadanya.
Pada 2001 ia diangkat menjadi Kapolres Lampung Timur, ini merupakan jabatan strategis untuk awal karirnya di lembaga Kepolisian Republik Indonesia.
Dalam perjalanannya, Komjen Pol. Firli Bahuri memperlihatkan keseriusannya dalam menjalankan tugas dan amanah yang dipercayakan oleh negara.
Alhasil, pada 2005 ia kembali ditunjuk sebagai Kasat III/Umum Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya. Sebelum itu, dirinya juga sempat menjabat Wakapolres di Lampung Tengah.
Perjalanan karirnya kian hari kian cerah, ia akhirnya ditempatkan menjadi Kapolres Kebumen pada 2006. Pada tahun berikutnya, 2007, ia kembali diangkat menjadi Kapolres Brebes.
Berkat kinerjanya yang membuat decak kagum banyak pihak, ia kemudian menerima sejumlah promosi jabatan yang datang silih berganti.
Dimulai dari ditunjuknya menjadi Wakapolres Metro Jakarta Pusat (2009), dilanjutkan dengan Asisten Sespri Presiden (2010), hingga mengemban amanah jabatan Ditreskrimus Polda Jateng pada 2011.selama bertugas di dir reskrimsus polda jateng, beberapa bupati , walikota dan anggota dewan tersangkut kasus korupsi dituntaskan secara profesional.
Kepercayaannya kian meningkat setelah dirinya mengikuti seleksi sebagai Ajudan Presiden dan wakil Presiden RI 2012, dan mengemban amanah sebagai ajudan wakil presiden RI 2012 -2014, sebelum akhirnya menjabat Wakapolda Banten 2014.
Jabatan prestisius lainnya pun terus menyusul. Dirinya diangkat menjadi Karodalops Sops Polri 2016 dan saat itulah aksi super damai 212 dikelolanya dg apik sehingga berjalan aman dan nyaman. Di akhir tahun 2016 ia juga ditunjuk sebagai Wakapolda Jawa Tengah. Karirnya kian melejit hingga akhirnya menjabat Kapolda Nusa Tenggara Barat febuari 2017 sampai dengan april 2018.
Adapun pada tahun 2018, ia dipercayakan menempati posisi Deputi Penindakan Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi. Sebuah langkah awal sebelumnya dirinya benar-benar ikut berkontestasi dalam penjaringan calon pimpinan KPK pada pertengahan 2019 silam.
Namun, sebelum itu dirinya juga sempat menjabat Kapolda Sumatera Selatan (2019), daerah tempat ia menghabiskan masa kecil dan studinya di awal.
Pada tahun yang sama, 2019, ia juga ternyata menerima kepercayaan menjadi Kepala Badan Pemelihara Keamanan Kepolisian Republik Indonesia (Kabaharkam polri).
Tentu saja, perjalanan panjang karir Komjen Pol. Firli Bahuri yang sungguh luar biasa itu bukan sesuatu yang kebetulan. Akan tetapi semua yang ia dapatkan merupakan sebuah hasil yang lahir dari proses yang panjang dengan tekad yang kuat serta Doanya Kepada Allah Swt.
