Suzuki Jimny masih menjadi pusat perhatian pengunjung setidaknya sampai pameran GIIAS 2018 hari keenam, Selasa.
Pengunjung anjungan Suzuki silih berganti menyambangi model Jimny generasi keempat yang tampil lebih modern, namun mempertahankan wajah klasiknya dengan lampu depan bulat, desain grill vertikal, bodi kotak, dan garis body yang lurus ke belakang.
Sejumlah pengunjung mengagumi model lampu Jimny yang kembali didesain bulat, setelah model lampu itu berubah total pada Jimny generasi ketiga.
Hal lain yang menjadi sorotan adalah tampilan dashboard yang tinggi dengan lekukan-lekukan tajam, berpadu dengan panel spedometer klasik berbentuk bulat, namun lingkar kemudinya sudah modern dengan menyematkan beberapa tombol.
“Wajahnya tetap klasik, tapi fitur fungsionalnya modern. Tuas transmisi sudah otomatis, setirnya sudah ada tombol-tombol juga,” kata Sri Mugiyono (52) asal Ciledug yang mengakui pernah memiliki Suzuki Katana 4×2 di anjungan Suzuki, Selasa.
Tuas persneling Jimny yang dipamerkan di GIIAS 2018 merupakan model otomatis dengan penempatan tuas 4×4 di sisi bawahnya. Sikap duduk pengemudi juga dipertahankan tegak dengan posisi dahsboard yang tinggi dan ruang kaki yang luas.
Mobil tiga pintu ini menyematkan door-trim berbahan plastik, sedangkan sejumlah ornamen pada eksterior juga memakai bahan fiber seperti pada bumper dan over fender.
Sejumlah pengunjung lainnya juga mengamati suspensi 3-link rigid axle with coil spring yang dipakai Jimny. Suspensi poros rigid dengan koil pegas itu diklaim akan lebih baik ketimbang versi per daun yang umumnya dirasakan para pemilik Katana maupun Jimny lawas di Indonesia.
“Suspensinya sudah seperti mobil-mobil keluaran sekarang, namun tetap rigid, bukan model independen. Saya kira akan tetap berkarakter kokoh,” kata Sumiyanto (47) pengunjung asal Bogor yang memiliki Suzuki Jimny generasi kedua.
Pada bagian belakang, Jimny masih menggendong ban serep dengan model pintu yang terbuka lebar ke samping. Bangku pada baris kedua bisa dilipat ke depan untuk memberikan keleluasaan dalam membawa barang.
Suzuki Jimny 2018 yang diluncurkan di Jepang pada bulan lalu memakai mesin K15B 1.500cc dengan sistem Multipoint injection. SUV mungil ini mempertahankan kemampuan penggerak empat roda dengan dua pilihan transmisi, manual 5 percepatan atau otomatis 4 percepatan.
Di sisi lain, Suzuki memastikan Jimny yang dipamerkan di GIIAS belum dijual di Indonesia, karena masih berstatus produk ‘display’ guna mengetahui minat masyarakat terhadap Jimny yang pertama kali diproduksi pada 1970 dengan nama lain LJ10 itu.
Kendati demikian, Suzuki siap menjual dan memproduksi Jimny di Indonesia apabila minat masyarakat cukup tinggi. Suzuki Jimny pernah diproduksi di Indonesia pada tahun 1986 hingga 2005.
“Kami rencananya ingin sekali produksi di dalam negeri ketika sudah dijual,” kata Presiden Komisaris PT Indomobil Sukses International Tbk, Subronto Laras, di anjungan Suzuki GIIAS 2018, ICE-BSD City, Tangerang, Banten.
